Google has acquired a California based Gecko Design to improve the product designing capability for its Google X project.
Gecko Design specialises in creating consumer-electronic products, working with the engineers to shape the design before the product enters the manufacturing phase.
Gecko Design’s client list includes HP, Sonos, Logitech, Jawbone, Slingmedia and FitBit.
Google X’s innovations include the Google Glass, diabetes monitoring contact lenses, driverless car and internet based project Loon.
Google expects that the acquisition will strengthen its design capability which has experience in designing some innovative technologies including the FitBit band.
Previously, Gecko Design teamed up with Google on an undisclosed project and reportedly the deal was in works from 2013.
Gecko Design President Jacques L. Gagne said: "This is an incredible opportunity for everyone at Gecko."
"We are very excited and honored to join Google (x) and work on a variety of cutting edge projects."
The statement indicates that the company will likely dissolve and become an integral part of the Google X and the experts will be joining other deign experts and now Google executives like Ivy Ross and Mitchell Heinrich.
