Freescale Semiconductor and Green Hills Software have partnered to expand role of system virtualisation technology in ARM based embedded and mobile applications.

As per the partnership, Green Hills’ integrity multivisor will be integrated with Freescale’s i.MX application processors, which feature advanced silicon-level optimisations to support virtualisation performance.

The collaboration is expected to enable intelligent and dynamic use models, reduce device development and production costs, and improve reliability, safety, and security, Freescale said.

The alliance will work on to deliver ARM architecture-based offerings to the automotive, smart devices and enterprise mobility markets.

i.MX 6 family of application processors provides ARM Cortex-A9-based offerings in single-, dual- and four-core versions for consumer, industrial, and automotive markets.

The i.MX 6 series enables next-generation on-the-go applications such as tablets, automotive infotainment systems and eReaders, while integrity multivisor is a member of the family of integrity secure virtualisation offerings with real-time microkernel technology.
