Flipboard, the popular social magazine iOS app has introduced upgrade integrating audio with SoundCloud for Apple’s hand-held devices lik iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

The new appl will allow users to listen podcasts, news, music while browsing through various sections of the social magazine.

While reading their Flipboard, the edition lets users’ listen to audio shared on Soundcloud, a social sound platform, and radio programming from NPR and Public Radio International (PRI).

The recent version includes Apple’s VoiceOver features and is suited for users with visual disabilities.

Flipboard has added a new "Audio" category to the content guide, which opens when a user taps on the red ribbon or magnifying glass in the top right corner of the magazine.

Flipboard CEO Mike McCue said the addition of SoundCloud is a great example of how the magazine makes social content a more discoverable and more immersive experience.

"With this latest addition, we’re giving our readers a personal soundtrack to their Flipboard," added Mike.

Flipboard stated users can browse SoundCloud to discover sounds or use their SoundCloud account and access sounds from people they follow and lists they’ve created.

After a VoiceOver is turned on in the settings of a touch-screen device, the gestures to control Flipboard change and everything on a page is read out aloud.

Some of the other new features include a Japanese edition, support for Pocket, formerly Read It Later, and Readability to save articles to read later and introduction of tips to explore more of Flipboard.
