Strategic application usage management offerings provider Flexera Software has launched its FlexNet Manager for IBM.
The company said the new enterprise license optimisation offering, built on the FlexNet Manager Platform, automates IBM license management, and delivers automated tools to help slash license, maintenance and audit costs for IBM desktop and server software, and provide control over software estates.
The application enables enterprises to maintain continual software license compliance and reduce financial exposure to IBM software audits.
Flexera said IBM has witnessed an increase in software vendor audits over the past two years, and the new IBM software license management tool offers a high degree of license complexity, and minimises the company’s risk of audit exposure.
FlexNet Manager for IBM, is part of the FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises, and can be leveraged to track and manage software whether it’s implemented on premises or in the cloud, on physical devices or in virtual environments.
It also allows organisations to discover over/under licensing situations through the import of purchase order data from procurement systems, manage complex license agreements and metrics, features enriched IBM software titles enabling the product to scrub raw inventory data and provide a list of installed software per device environment "devices" such as virtual machines and hardware partitions.
The offering also includes cross-platform (Windows, Linux, UNIX, and MAC OS) discovery, inventory, and application usage (metering) collection tools, usage and user information for Citrix application virtualisation environments.
It features an IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) to provide support for sub-capacity licensing, as well as a common dashboard to report an enterprise-wide IBM software license compliance position, and a set of pre-defined and customisable FlexNet Manager Platform reports, including compliance and audit reports, contract renewals and opportunities for cost savings.
