The promoted posts test feature first started in New Zealand and rolled out to 20 different countries in May this year. The new feature will now also appear to Facebook members in the United States.

The new feature will bump promoted posts higher in the newsfeed so a user’s friends and subscribers will be more likely to see it.

"Every day, news feed delivers your posts to your friends. Sometimes a particular friend might not notice your post, especially if a lot of their friends have been posting recently and your story isn’t near the top of their feed," said Facebook in a statement.

Users promoting weddings, news, or events posts can also see how many of their friends actually noticed it.

The Facebook gift feature will roll out gradually roll out reaching U.S. members first.
