Social networking giant Facebook has said that it fixed an outage caused by certain changes to its DNS infrastructure which left some of its users unable to access its social network.
A Facebook spokesperson was quoted by the Business Insider as saying "Earlier today we made a change to our DNS infrastructure and that change resulted in some people being temporarily unable to reach the site."
"We detected and resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We apologize for any inconvenience," the spokesperson said.
The latest outage is the social network’s first outage since October 2011 which lasted for an hour.
Facebook’s outage follows search giant Google’s outage which affected cloud-based email service, Gmail, Google Drive and several other products.
Recently, Facebook made its messaging service to mobile users who are not on the social network.
Last month, Facebook had introduced a new feature will allow developers to now see where and from which mobile platforms there traffic is coming from, including iPhone, iPad, Android and mobile browser.
