Eurodata GmbH has set up and is to run a satellite-based communications network in Hungary. According to Computerwoche, the Berlin-based company won the licence for the venture from the Hungarian Ministry of Transport, Communications and Water Supply and from all accounts, the network should be operational very soon. Via the Eutelsat satellite, Hungarian banks will be able to send their data to German banks while at the same time having access to the German database system. Eurodata was set up in August 1991 as a joint venture between Munich-based Deutsche Aerospace AG, Bonn-based Deutsche Telepost Consulting GmbH and Bank-Data GmbH, Berlin. The setting up of an operation in Budapest is now in the pipeline too. By the end of 1992, the Eurodata network is expected to link over 200 European locations together.
