Network provider EE has been hit by a data outage that has affected its 4G customers across Britain.

UK customers have voiced their complaints via social media, with many sharing their frustrations on Twitter about being unable to send messages, emails or access the internet due to the outage.

The most affected areas are London, Birmingham and Glasgow, according to Down Detector.

The network provider said that it was aware that the lack of data had been affecting 4G customers and claimed that work was being done to solve the issue, with 3G remaining unaffected.

However, 3G mobile phone users revealed their frustration via tweets to EE as they were also unable to gain internet connection.

Susan Yan Mach, EE 3G customer said: “Haven’t been able to connect to 3G all morning. Error message “Could not connect to mobile network data. PDP authentication failure.”

EEComplaints of the outage began at 9am this morning, with many customers complaining that they had down with a loss of connection for hours.

The network failure follows a similar outage that hit EE’s 4G customers just a few weeks ago, again London, Birmingham and Glasgow were among the most targeted areas.

Not only have network providers suffered outages, but WhatsApp also recently suffered from a global outage which hit around 1.2 billion users for several hours.

Prior to this also, a massive outage hitting Amazon S3 caused a huge crash on the internet, affecting a wide range of websites. Amazon Web Services blamed this issue on ‘human error’ as more servers were removed than intended.

The issue behind EE’s data outage remains unconfirmed but has reportedly been resolved at the time of writing.
