A study by thinkbroadband.com has highlighted the best and worst constituencies in the UK for superfast broadband.
Brighton and Hove, in Sussex, Leyton and Wanstead in East London, topped the list with broadband coverage of 99.1 percent. Enfield North and Bournemouth East followed with 99 percent.
As one might expect, several London constituencies feature heavily in the top 30, including Edmonton, Tottenham and Hackney North and Stoke Newington.
Hackney South and Shoreditch, which hosts the UK’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’, does not feature. While it shows download speeds of 14.1 Mbps and 0.7 Mbps, the findings indicate superfast fibre penetration of 96.6 percent.
At the very bottom of the list was Na h-Eleanam an Iar, the Outer Hebrides, with 0 percent coverage of superfast broadband.
The UK overall has superfast broadband available to 82.2 percent of premises, with a target of 95 percent of Britain having access by the end of 2017.
However, the disproportionate number of urban areas featuring at the higher end of the list may call into question the Conservatives’ touting of their superfast broadband roll-out.
It is also revealed that the best-served areas are overwhelmingly in England, while the worst-served are in Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
