The sale of Cray Research Inc’s Sparc-based SuperServer product line – to Sun Microsystems Inc or perhaps OEM partner Amdahl Corp – is certainly one of the options under consideration at Mips RISC parent Silicon Graphics Inc. Development of the low-end commercial server line (low-end in Cray’s terms) has cost the company dearly.
