Corel Corp’s hardware division is now promising its Video Network Computer (VNC) in early 1998 following limited roll-out over the coming weeks. It features a StrongARM 233MHZ RISC processor from Digital Equipment Corp and Advanced RISC Machines Ltd, producing up to 250 MIPS. Corel has licensed a real-time operating system based on a Linux core from an unknown vendor, and the Java virtual machine (JVM) from JavaSoft incorporating a Just-in-Time (JIT) compiler. t has built-in video conferencing capabilities, hence the name.
