The Cloud expects to have hotspots up and running in 55 stations across Sweden by the end of January with the rest deployed in due course and will sell wholesale access to third parties. Initial coverage will span public areas before being extended to include platforms, restaurants, retail areas, and car parks.
Cloud CEO George Polk said the company’s Swedish rollout is the start of an aggressive European expansion strategy through 2005. This is expected to take in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the Benelux countries.
The Cloud, which began operations in early 2003, is best known for its extensive network of hotspots in the UK’s public houses.
