London-based ISP and managed services provider Claranet has deployed enterprise Cloud software company Abiquo’s offering to power its recently announced Virtual Data Centre offering.
Claranet’s Virtual Data Centre is an integrated Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering.
The Virtual Data Centre offers a new way of managing infrastructure to Claranet’s customers, addressing the key proposition of cloud deployments, by combining the provision of network and compute resources.
Claranet’s infrastructure and development teams are able to use Abiquo APIs to extend the functionality of the service to provide a unique offering.
Abiquo not only supports multiple hypervisors simultaneously but also allows rapid conversion of virtual machines between any of them with a single drag-and-drop operation.
Abiquo CEO Pete Malcolm said Claranet is a good example of how managed service providers use its technology to build sophisticated, self-managed cloud solutions for their customers.
"Extensive API functionality and the self-branding capabilities of our award-winning user interface allow MSPs to create a truly differentiated offering, fully integrated with their existing environment," said Malcolm.
Claranet Group CIO Ian Finlay said Claranet evaluated several products on the market, but only the Abiquo offering provided the feature set Claranet required to meet the customer’s needs.
"Once selected, the solution was rapidly implemented, and the excellent support we received from the Abiquo team made the process feel like a true partnership," said Finlay.
