The new beta service offers films over the internet which can be downloaded onto a disc for playback in a standard DVD player. Prices start at $8 per film, and include DVD extras and printable labels and artwork.
Films initially available include titles from Buena Vista Home Entertainment, MGM Worldwide Digital Media, Sony Pictures and Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Customers can choose from over 100 titles, and have the option to download extras such as full graphic menus, language and commentary tracks and all bonus materials available on traditional retail DVDs.
Today, our customers will experience a true innovation in home entertainment: the ability to obtain a DVD in the comfort of their living room, said Curt Marvis, CEO of CinemaNow. Since CinemaNow was founded in 1999, our mission has been to provide our customers with convenient access to video content. This is a historic day for CinemaNow and we are at the forefront of digital video distribution.
CinemaNow expects to add both new and catalog DVDs from a variety of content licensors in the coming months.
