The People’s Republic of China is pressing ahead with plans for an econonic information network to cover the major administrative districts in the country’s 29 provinces: the network will link to the National Economic Centre in Peking and another just established in Shanghai – but telecommunications in China are so poor that the network is not expected to be fully operational for another decade.
