Bull SA made a whole string of announcements at the end of last week relating to the GCOS 7 operating system and the DPS 6 Plus minicomputer line, and was scheduled yesterday to add an announcement about international integration of its Unix product families under the leadership of Honeywell Bull Italia. For GCOS 7, the mid-range operating system for the DPS 7000 line of French-conceived 32-bit mainframes, the company announced an intriguing security feature – an access control facility at terminal level controlled by its CP8 Smart Card. The feature is called Secur’access. The IQS applications generator has been enhanced with interactive transactional features so that preprogrammed IQS requests can be integrated with and executed under the TDS Transaction-Driven System. Information-Link is a new version of InfoLink for easy access to Oracle databases under GCOS 7. MS-DOS workstations can now be used as terminals to GCOS 7 via the IDA, Pachase and Delta software products with applications development using these products supported under MS Windows. And Cincom Systems’ Mant is generator is supported with aut omatic links to the IDS II database management system and data diction ary. On the DPS 6 Plus mini, One Plus supports MS DOS, Bull Micral and OS/2 micros, and is offered with Oracle 5.1, as are Cincom’s Mantis and the Milciade Cobol gene rator under DM6-TP. A new DPS 6/201 with 2Mb to 4Mb and integrat ed 60Mb tape streamer and 68Mb disk, and dual processor DPS 6/422 with shadow processing for critical applications were launched. All announcements were for the French market only, and model numbers may differ in the UK and US versions.
