Beijing Co-Create claims 50,000 Linux desktops

Beijing Co-Create Open Source Software Co Ltd claims that it is in line to migrate 50,000 Asian business and government desktops from Windows to Co-Create Linux as clients migrate to Linux rather than Windows Vista.

The Beijing, China-based Linux vendor said that moving the 50,000 desktops from Windows 98 or Windows XP to Co-Create Linux and OpenOffice.org will produce software savings of between $20m and $25m for its clients, while hardware savings will be in the region of $40m to $50m.

Co-Create said it has teamed up with Linux migration specialist Alacos Corp’s Asia Pac distributor, Ferosys Pte Ltd, to use the Alacos Desktop Migration Agent software to help it undertake the migration projects.
