As part of its education strategy Uxbridge, Middlesex-based Apple Computer UK Ltd launched the Apple Direct Schools Catalogue at the BETT ’94 educational computing show at Olympia, London for schools to purchase both Apple and third party products. The catalogue contains a range of hardware and software products, more than 200 Apple Macintosh products and around 150 software products for a range of educational needs. Coming directly from the manufacturer, products are offered at a 5% discount except those requiring configuration, to educational establishments or at the educational discount rate offered by the third party product vendor if that is greater. Apple also offers a free one-year online support service for hardware and a 30 day no quibble money back return period if you change your mind. Apple will be mailing all schools in the country and plans to release a new catalogue approximately each quarter. New finance arrangements have been introduced so that from February schools can apply to open an account with special low leasing rates for orders over UKP750. The company also announced nine accredited schools specialists who will sell, service and support Apple and third party products in the schools and further education market.
