In an unspoken earnest that local area networking is now a stable, mature market, Amstrad Plc will be making its entry in September, offering boards to network three MS-DOS micros, plus a version of Corvus Systems Inc’s PC/NOS net work operating system, for UKP400. The boards are Corvus Omninet/1 int erface cards, and the OEM contract with Corvus is valued at between $3m and $4m a year, implying that Amstr ad is looking to sell several mill ion of the kits a year. The AmsNOS operating system is a specially mod ified version of PC/NOS, and users will of course be able to put other MS-DOS computers on the network as well as the ones built by Amstrad.
