Two big computerised reservations systems have finally come together with the signing of an agreement in Paris between Sabre Travel Information Network – owned by American Airlines’ parent AMR Corp – and Amadeus Global Travel Distribution – a bookings network formed in 1987 by Air France, Iberia, Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines System. The deal ensures co-operation between the two networks at both the technical and the commercial level, as the two systems become compatible. The agreement will rescue the Amadeus network, which had lost ground to the UK’s Galileo system.
