Satellite Technology Management Inc of Costa Mesa, California has received a $4m order for a turnkey, private very small aperture satellite terminal network from Agroasemex, a government-owned insurer of agricultural crops, equipment and livestock based in Queretaro, Mexico: Agroasemex maintains an office in each of Mexico’s 32 states and more than 20 local offices which communicate with its main office in Queretaro; each state office operates a computer system that interfaces to the mainframe; the VSAT network will serve the 32 remote offices with X25 protocol-based applications, each of which will have five data ports and two voice channels; the voice portion of the network will interface with a new PABX in Queretaro; the hub and the first 14 sites are scheduled for installation in 1992, and the remaining 18 VSATs will be installed in early 1993; Satellite Technology is supplying all satellite networking hardware and software, the PABX, training and maintenance; additionally, network video capability may be added in the future.
