Agile Networks Inc, based in Boxborough, Massachusetts, has announced a new product range designed to provide intelligent switching for multivendor Asynchronous Transfer Mode networks. The ATMizer LS Layer-3 LANE Local Area Network Emulation Server brings Agile’s automated virtual local area network to other vendors’ switch and edge devices to provide enhanced Layer-3 LANE services. Virtual local network interoperability has been tested at customer sites with Cisco Systems Incs’ Catalyst 5000 switches. The company intends to extend testing to equipment from Fore Systems Inc, 3Com Corp, Bay Networks Inc and others. Based on dual 80960 RISC processors, the ATMizer LS has up to five Asynchronous Mode OC3c ports, with a full suite of local network emulation services, says the company. These services include a LAN Configuration Server; LANE Service; Broadcast-Unknown Service and Automated Layer-3 Virtual local networks. The ATMizer LS conforms to the ATM Forum’s LAN Emulation v1.0 stand ard. Available in October, ATMizer LS with three Asynchronous Mode interfaces is priced at $40,000. Each additional Asynchronous Mode interface costs $2,500.
