General Automation Inc has agreed to acquire the San Diego-based NCE Computer Group from its parent National Customer Engineering Inc. NCE, a computer services and sales company, goes to General Automation for $3m in cash and deferred payments, and should boost GA’s revenues to over $50m. Irvine, California-based General Automation now generates over half of its revenues from services and systems integration, but still sells Intel and PowerPC-based hardware running the Pick operating system and database software. It only finalized its 1996-announced acquisition of high-end fault-tolerant Pick systems vendor Sequoia Enterprise Systems in October last year, paying $11m.
