Palmtop Software has inked a deal to distribute Graham Technology Ltd’s GT-X internet trading software as part of its EPOC wireless information device software portfolio, increasing the online services available for the Symbian platform. Palmtop, a UK-based PDA software developer, will offer the client as a free download or bundled with its software.
The Graham thin client connects to a server-side database, which contains the customer records. The software acts as the interface between customers calling on home shopping outlets, electronic banking or stock trading, and the database. It allows both ends to compare information, and regulates the interaction, for instance, stopping a transaction if a customer breaches a pre-arranged credit limit. Palmtop intends to start offering the online services in the fall.
