Bluestone Software Inc has announced Release 6 of its Sapphire/Web 100% Pure Java Application Server. New features include fast failover, burst-mode optimization and a thread pool controller, all aimed at making Sapphire/Web the most scalable application server on the market. Hot Versioning deployment in the Sapphire/Application Manager (SAM) should make it possible to upgrade applications without taking them down.
Version 6 also contains provisions for internet quality of service. Users can be classified as Gold, Silver and Bronze, but a Bronze user who is about to make a purchase can be upgraded to Gold and given preferred service immediately. A new security console allows for role-based access assignment. Administrators can plug in support for VeriSign, Entrust and other X.509 certificates. If that’s not enough, there are reference implementations of the Java naming and directory interface (JNDI) and the lightweight directory access protocol (LDAP), as well as an improved Java integration manager with Java Server-Bean Wizards and an Enterprise Java BeanBuilder for generating EJB applications. รก
