Intel Corp president and CEO Craig Barrett will visit India next month to review operations and meet with senior government officials on policy incentives aimed at boosting the Indian IT industry. This will be his third visit in as many years. Barrett, along with Bill Gates, is tipped to be one of the members of the vision group to be set up later this year by the IT Task Force. The vision group will guide India’s IT policy over the next decade. Barrett has stressed the need for India to build a national IT infrastructure backbone to enable raid growth of the internet and to increase its usage in the government. Intel does not have any direct investments in India planned currently, but will make strategic investments, says Atul Vijaykar, Intel’s South Asia director.
