Application and server management applications provider Idera has released version 3.5 of SQL check which monitors the performance of SQL Server databases and provides real-time performance information to database administrators and developers.

The performance monitoring tool offers throughput monitoring, which displays key metrics for batches, compilations, recompilations and transactions on SQL Server.

Idera SQL Server Products director Heather Sullivan said SQL check is an useful tool to help DBAs manage time-consuming everyday tasks such as troubleshooting issues on SQL Server databases.

"SQL check 3.5 monitors 20 key performance metrics, is easy to install and can be up and running within five minutes," Sullivan said.

With the throughput monitoring, database administrators can now understand a server’s normal activity level and identify unusual spikes that afftect the performance.

These new metrics will strengthen SQL check’s performance monitoring for metrics waits, reads/writes, cache hits and sessions.

Idera president and CEO Rick Pleczko said, "SQL check, along with our other free tools for SQL Server, SQL job manager and SQL PowerShell Scripts, gives the SQL Server community a glimpse into the feature set of our enterprise-class products for SQL Server management and administration."
