The website lets its users see Instagram photos when they’re uploaded from a certain major city.

Photos are tracked from five major cities which include London, New York, Sao Paulo, Tokyo and Sydney.

The site is not endorsed or certified by Instagram but uses the Instagram API which allows the developer to access Instagram photos.

"This Is Now project is a visual composition which uses real-time updates from the ever popular Instagram application based on users’ geotag locations," said the site on its home page. "The tool streams photos instantly as soon as they are uploaded on Instagram and captures a city’s movement, in a fluid story."

This is Now

A person can see the number of photos uploaded and clicked on depending on the city they choose. On the top right of each city page users’ can also see how many people are viewing it at that exact moment.

When clicking on a photo from the site a user will be directed to Instagram.com which will show the person who uploaded the photo and comments about the photo as well.

Facebook acquired Instagram back in April for a hefty £1bn. The photo sharing app currently boasts over 30 million users and its founders think it can hit 100 million.

"This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users," said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg about its acquisition of Instagram. "We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together."

However, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is concerned that Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram could significantly limit the ability of Instagram photos to upload to other social networking sites as well as other photo apps uploading to Facebook’s site.

The OFT inquiry has caused the closing of Facebook’s purchase of Instagram to be delayed indefinitely pending a Federal Trade Commission review.
