Just a month after Computer Associates International Inc finally shipped the long awaited Jasmine database, the company has announced an integration deal to enhance the product’s data access capabilities. CA will integrate International Software Group’s Navigator Universal Data Access software, providing developers with the capability to take data from multiple information repositories and use it with information stored in the Jasmine database. Clients will be able to access the ISG Navigator system from Object Database Connectivity tool sets, including spreadsheets, word processing applications, data warehouses and report writers. The integration basically means users can access object data with tools such as Visual Basic or Powerbuilder. CA will provide the access capabilities to developers through a jointly developed Object Linking Embedding Database compliant driver; the Jasmine data assets will be enhanced through the OLE DB and ActiveX interfaces supported by ISG Navigator.
