Hewlett-Packard Co CEO Lew Platt has hired outside consultants to set about a comprehensive review of the company’s operations, following its recent slow-down in growth and loss of favored trading status. Platt was clearly unimpressed with the firm’s fourth quarter results, which he grudgingly referred to (CI No 3,540) as only reasonably good. The Wall Street Journal reports that HP’s culture is also under review, and that the company’s long-term policy of promoting from within was being reconsidered in the interests of attracting new blood and new ideas to HP. The last big shake-up at the company was back in 1990.
