Search engine company WordCruncher Internet Technologies Inc says it will launch its new web-based service next month under the name of Spyhop. WordCruncher’s differentiator is that it shows details of the sites that comprise the results of the search query, rather than just descriptions of the sites found, according to the company. Alpine, Utah-based WordCruncher hit the headlines about a year ago when it held an auction for itself by placing ads in trade papers and faxing requests for bids to the top 40 technology companies. Having got a paltry response to that it went public by reversing into a shell company in July.
