Software AG UK this week sold QVF Ltd, a UK services support subsidiary for its Adabas relational database, to Logical Holding Ltd, as part of a move to focus on core areas and raise cash for acquisitions. The company said that the sale of QVF is not a sign of a shift away from its relational database and says it is currently working on improvements to Adabas, including enhanced search capabilities and matrix handling. At the same time, however, the company said it will put the undisclosed proceeds from the sale into further acquisitions in what it considers its core area of e-business built from its EntireX middleware and Bolero applications. The company is also planning a new XML object database called Odyssey, which the company plans to release in the third quarter of next year.
