A year on from shipping the first copies of its DB2 Universal Database, IBM Corp says that 2,000 ISVs are now porting over applications, adding to the 4,300 existing applications. IBM is putting its efforts into channel sales, and says it now has 7,000 business partners working on its data management products, and channel revenue growth has increased by around 10%. There are now over one million DB2 servers in the market on all platforms, representing 40 million users and 11,000 companies. IMS and DB2 OS/390 revenues were both up 14% year on year in the first half on 1998. NT year-on-year growth made triple digits, and IBM says it now has 1,000 NT pilots underway. Universal Database parallel software on Unix grew over 200%, with DB2 running on more than 50% of new RS/6000 SP-based data warehouses.
