Exabyte Corp says it plans to focus its business on its Mammouth Tape technology, network storage systems and OEM and reseller sales. Last month, Exabyte reported a second quarter net loss of $16.87m on revenue that was down 30% at $48.5m. The Boulder, Colorado-based company has suffered trying to compete against Quantum Corp’s DLT technology. Exabyte plans to consolidate its drive and automated tape library operations into a single business unit, and form a new unit to focus on the NetStor network attach storage business. The first NetStor products were launched in May. Exabyte also plans to merge its sales and channel organization into a single unit. Mammouth-2 drives and related automation products are due to be launched in the Fall.
