Financial analysts forecast an increase in Dutch electronics conglomerate Royal Philips Electronics NV’s second-quarter operating profit of anything from 11% to 23% thanks to sales of semiconductors and consumer products. If confirmed, that would mean a figure of $386m-$425m for the period. The company’s net profit of $358m in the first quarter was a major surprise in the market, representing a 56% increase on the same period last year. Earnings per share, meanwhile are tipped to come in at $1.07-$1.17, up from $0.99 in the same period last year.
