The Netcom On-line Communications division of ICG Communications Inc has acquired NikoNet, which is a combination of three trading companies in one, specializing in fax and email broadcast as well as document-on-demand services – all services that are new to Netcom, it says. Netcom is the internet service provider ICG acquired in October of last year. ICG paid a total of $27m in cash, assumed debt and stock, but declined to break that figure down further. He said the acquisition closed July 30. The three companies under the NikoNet name are Enhanced Messaging Services Inc, NikoNet Inc and CompuFax. NikoNet’s 34 employees have all moved over to Netcom. And the company, which was founded in 1993, is said to have more than 600 corporate accounts, mainly in the financial services, investor and public relations and automotive industries. ICG’s shares closed down $0.6875 at $29.50.
