India-based information technology (IT) and consulting firm Infosys has reported net revenues of Rs96.16bn ($1.73bn) for the second quarter of 2012, a 28.15% increase in dollar terms compared with Rs74.85bn ($1.35bn) in the corresponding quarter previous year.

The company has posted 30.9% increase in gross profit to Rs38.06bn ($684.2m), when compared to Rs29.08bn ($522.82m) in the second quarter of 2011.

Operating profit was Rs26.93bn ($484.24m) in the second quarter ended 30 June 2012, a growth of 37.9% compared with Rs19.52bn ($351m) in the same quarter last year.

Infosys has also reported net profit of Rs22.89bn ($411.6m) for the second quarter this year, up 32.9% when compared to Rs17.22bn ($309.59m) in the same quarter previous year.

According to the company, financial services and insurance contributed most to the quarterly revenue followed manufacturing enterprises, and energy, utilities and telecommunication services.

Retail, logistics, consumer product group, life sciences and health care enterprises altogether contributed Rs22.79bn ($409.73m) for the quarter.
