Thin client software companies Corel Corp and GraphOn Corp are working together to provide customers of Corel’s jBridge windowing software access to Unix servers through GraphOn’s Go-Between middleware. jBridge is a windowing technology written in Java that enables Windows applications to be run on any thin client with an installed Java Virtual Machine. It competes against similar offerings from Citrix Systems Inc. The addition of Go-Between means that users can access any Unix/X Window application from the jBridge desktop without needing any additional X server software or multiple desktop clients. Go-Between installs an X Server on the Unix host and a sub 300kb thin client add-on to jBridge. It uses GraphOn’s thin-wire version of the X protocol, RapidX.
