Microsoft’s worst nightmares came true on Friday when leaders of the Linux insurrection asserted their right to bear arms. Though not an official Atlanta Linux Showcase event, the Geeks with Guns birds of a feather organized by open source evangelist and gun nut Eric S. Raymond was by all accounts a raging success. The plan, according to Raymond, was to: Perforate targets. Perforate many, many targets. Afterwards, drink beer. Whether drawn by the targets or the beer, a number of otherwise pacific open source engineers were lured from the exhibition floor to the firing range. If early results are any indication, free software fanatic Richard M. Stallman is reportedly an excellent shot. Worrying news all round.
