Virtualisation and cloud infrastructure firm VMware has signed an agreement to acquire DynamicOps, a provider of cloud automation applications that handles provisioning and management of IT services across heterogeneous cloud infrastructure.
Both the companies have not disclosed the terms of transaction.
VMware believes that the combined entity will offer a standardised architecture and build applications which are easy for customers to choose the model that best works for their needs, including heterogeneous environments/management.
DynamicOps originated as a spinoff of Credit Suisse’s IT unit and its policy-based service governor capabilities automate, control how applications and users are provisioned across physical and heterogeneous cloud infrastructure resources.
VMware Virtualization and Cloud Management vice president and general manager Ramin Sayar said, "DynamicOps’ multi-cloud and multi-platform capabilities help to strengthen VMware’s position as the infrastructure and management vendor of choice for cloud computing."
The cloud automation firm builds on the capabilities of VMware vCloud Director by enabling customers to consume multi-cloud resources like physical environments, Hyper-V- and Xen-based hypervisors, and Amazon EC2.
DynamicOps CEO Rich Krueger said VMware and DynamicOps share a common vision for simplifying the management and provisioning of IT resources in the Cloud era.
"I’m excited about DynamicOps joining VMware, and expect our customers to benefit from increased investment and support in the solutions they rely on to optimize their delivery of IT-as-a-service," Krueger said.
The acquisition is scheduled to close in third quarter of 2012 after customary closing conditions.
