Cool chip company KryoTech Inc lost no time in launching a version of Advanced Micro Devices Inc’s AMD K6-2 processor with the speed boosted up by its cooling technology. AMD launched the K6-2 yesterday (CI No 3,419). KryoTech has thermally accelerated a 33MHz K6-2 up to 450MHz by cooling it down to -40c, using an ATX format motherboard with 100MHz system bus, Advanced Graphics Port, 300 watt power supply and a custom ATX case containing its thermal management technology. Pricing was unavailable as we went to press, but was due to be posted on the company’s web site.
