Enlighten Software Solutions Inc, the San Mateo, California-based provider of systems management software, continues to spend heavily to build market share. First quarter revenues showed an 80.5% increase to $1.2m but with total operating expenses increasing 56.4% to $1.3m, the company turned in net loss of $249,000. While this is down on the $212,000 profit recorded in the same period last year, last year’s figures were buoyed by a $515,000 exception gain so the loss has been trimmed slightly.
Nonetheless, Enlighten’s results are worse than expected with a net loss of $0.06 compared with the $0.03 expected by analysts surveyed by First Call. After forming partnerships with IBM and Sun during the quarter, president and CEO David Parker says the company will devote a substantial portion of its resources pursuing new distribution relationships.
