Former Macintosh clone maker Akia Corp is to stop providing support services for machines based on the Apple Computer Inc Macintosh operating system. The Nihon keizai Shimbun says the Japanese organization will hand its support business to an unnamed company by the end of the month. Akia is likely to axe 20 staff as a result of its complete departure from the Mac clone business, the company already having ceased selling the clones. The company will now focus its operations on the development and sales of personal computers with the Windows operating system and liquid crystal displays.
