DataFocus Inc, the company that sells the NuTCracker utility for enabling Unix applications to run on Windows NT, has signed a strategic relationship with Unisys Corp. Unisys will promote the product through its Microsoft Center of Excellence joint program with Microsoft Corp, aimed particularly at federal government users looking to migrate from Unix to NT. Fairfax, Virginia-based DataFocus has similar deals in place with Compaq Computer Corp and government integrators such as BTG Inc. NuTCracker is currently being used by the US Navy to migrate the Joint Maritime Command Information System from Unix to NT. DataFocus released version 4.0 of NuTCracker in April, and is currently readying the release of version 4.1, which will include support for Microsoft’s Windows Terminal Server Edition, Visual C++ 6.0 and Microsoft Services for Unix. 4.1 has been in beta testing since September 4, and should become generally available on October 26.
