Forte Software Inc has teamed up with New Era of Networks Inc for a joint development and marketing deal that will see the two resell each others’ products. Neon plans to use Forte’s Conductor production workflow system development application to extend its MQIntegrator message-based integration products, adding workflow support at the messaging level. Neon is still evaluating how tight an integration it will produce. No financial details about the deal were revealed, other than that there were investments by both sides in each other’s technologies and products.

The combination, say the two, will result in a more comprehensive set of products for both companies. Conductor, which uses the same language and repository as Forte’s mainstream Application Environment, consists of four modules: Process Design Workshop, for defining the business processes; Process Engine, to track the status of active business processes and route the work across the company; Process History Database, which records the change of status in each workflow, and System Administration Console, which coordinates the workflow process.

Neon, which announced its own Enterprise Process Executive business process automation and workflow system a few months ago, says that there is a great synergy between the two product lines. Conductor uses the Unified Modeling Language, which Neon says it can cleanly map to. The two also serve joint vertical market sectors, financial services and healthcare. รก
