Global semiconductor sales fell nearly 4% in May to $9.99bn, according to the latest information from the Semiconductor Industry Association. The SIA said that sales faltered in all four of the major markets it watches. Sales declined 3.4% in Japan and 4.6% in the Americas. The European and Asia-Pacific markets saw sales decline by 3.6% and 3.7% respectively. On a year-over-year basis, worldwide sales fell 12.7% from last May’s total of $11.45bn – led by Japan, where sales fell 19.3%, and the Americas, which saw a 17.9% slide. Asia-Pacific sales fell 7.6%, while Europe slipped just 2.5%.
