Apple Computer Inc has now sold half a million iMacs since the machines were launched in the US on August 15. And the machines, now also on sale in Europe and Japan, are on target to sell 800,000 by the end of the year. Apple told attendees at Apple Expo in France last week that, since May, over 1,000 new software titles and 70 hardware devices supporting the iMac’s USB ports had been launched. Meanwhile, Newsbytes reported that Apple was looking for manufacturing help in order to keep up with demand. It said that Apple was having trouble delivering some of its other desktop and notebook lines, perhaps because of resources diverted to the iMac.
