Unisys Corp is pulling the plug on its PC and low-end server manufacturing capability in order to boost its services business and high-end server sales. The move follows a company wide strategic review by Unisys’ new chief executive officer Lawrence A Weinbach, who joined the company late last year. Unisys is currently negotiating an agreement with a major global technology partner to take over the company’s $500m annual PC business. The as yet un-named partner will supply notebooks, desk top PC’s and low-end servers worldwide under a Unisys label. NCR Corp gave up manufacturing PCs in 1996, and at the end of last year sold off more of its manufacturing assets to Selectron Corp, in order to concentrate on services.
