Microsoft Corp’s accounting policies are being reviewed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, chief financial officer Greg Maffei revealed yesterday. The SEC will examine allegations that Microsoft has been reserving revenue for quarters where business has been slow. Microsoft has met or exceeded analysts estimates for years. The allegations come from Microsoft’s former chief internal auditor Charles Pancerzwewski, who first made them in 1997 as part of a wrongful dismissal suit against the company. Microsoft’s fiscal fourth quarter ended yesterday, and the results are due to be published on July 19. Analysts at First Call expect it to earn 35 cents a share for the quarter. Microsoft told investors during a conference call that it would at least make analysts estimates.
