Zi Corporation, the Calgary, Alberta-based company involved in development of Chinese character-based language applications, has reported third quarter net losses at the equivalent of $128,999 down from losses of $1.7m on revenues of $239,206 down from revenues of $291,541. Nine-month net losses were $617,404 down from losses of $5m on revenues up 46.4% at $1m. The company decided to reinvent itself around a patent it acquired two years ago for inputting Chinese characters, moved out of telecoms, changed its name from Multi-Corp Inc and adopted all the characteristics of a start-up. Since then, Zi has announced alliances with companies including Apple, ARM, Lucent Technologies and Ericsson. Figures converted at $0.65 Canadian to the US dollar.
